Makhzoumi Foundation’s Environment and Development Program promotes environmental sustainability and community engagement across Lebanon through integrated environmental and development initiatives.

Through recycling projects, urban greening, environmental awareness, women empowerment, and youth engagement activities, the program encourages communities to adopt sustainable practices and actively contribute to building a sustainable future.

Environmental Sustainability & Recycling

Makhzoumi Foundation promotes environmental responsibility through recycling initiatives, waste sorting campaigns, environmental awareness activities, and sustainable community practices. Through projects such as recycling stations, awareness campaigns, and community engagement activities, the program encourages individuals, schools, and institutions to adopt environmentally responsible behaviors that contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable Lebanon.

Women & Community Empowerment

The program empowers women through practical workshops, creative skills development, and income-generating initiatives that promote self-reliance and entrepreneurship. Through environmentally friendly crafts, handmade production, and community-based activities, participants strengthen their livelihoods while contributing to sustainability and local economic development.

Child & Youth Environmental Education

Makhzoumi Foundation Environment and Development Program engages children and youth through interactive educational workshops, environmental activities, and creative learning experiences that promote sustainability and civic responsibility. Through hands-on activities, recycling crafts, and awareness sessions, young participants develop creativity, environmental awareness, and a stronger connection to their communities and environment.

Urban Greening

The program supports biodiversity, reforestation, and urban greening through plant production, tree distribution, and environmental rehabilitation initiatives across Lebanon. By working with municipalities, schools, NGOs, and local communities, the program contributes to restoring green spaces, improving environmental resilience, and promoting sustainable land management practices.

Yalla Nefroz

Makhzoumi Foundation’s Yalla Nefroz initiative continued promoting waste sorting and recycling across Beirut. Launched in 2016 in response to Lebanon’s waste crisis, it expanded to 49 recycling stations in schools, buildings, shops, and NGOs. In 2025, the team conducted 51 visits, added four new stations, collected 10,992 kg of recyclable waste, and distributed 44 sorting boxes. Through community engagement, partnerships, and free recycling services, the initiative continues to support a cleaner and more sustainable Lebanon.
