The Beirut codes team at Makhzoumi foundation organized a series of training that targeted youth from universities in a TOT – Training of Trainers for over 30 university students on Microbit and coding literacy. Beirut Codes worked on introducing Youth and Children to coding and equipped them with one of the most demanding 21st century skills.
Beirut Codes Youth trainers trained more than 70 students on coding Micro: Bit in which afterwards kids were divided into teams to create coding projects.
The project started with an onsite training for university aged youth that focused on technical and programmatic aspects. Students were introduced on how to code and teach coding for school students. A TOT was provided in order to facilitate the youth journey in delivering the training. Outreach of several schools is in progress aiming to training students enrolled in schools of age 10-14 took place in the first quarter of 2022. School youth tested their creativity and innovation through projects that relates to environment and their community.
Students pitched their ideas for a chance of winning several awards at the STEM Fair at OBK – Omar Bin Khattab Makssed School. The STEM fair hosted all schools of Beirut presenting scientific and technology solutions for environmental and health problems in response to the UN SDGs. The foundation awarded financial prizes and tablets for the winning youth enabling them to continue their journey further. Beirut Codes, Beirut Can!
