The Conference Workshop for Child Protection at Saint Joseph University (USJ) took place on February 7th and 8th, 2019. This conference is in line with Saint Joseph University visions and missions. The objectives of this conference-workshop are to bring together the following 3 dimensions: 1. The levels of prevention of violence on children. 2. The professional sectors in child care and protection: health, education, legal and social. 3. The areas of practice and expertise like legislation and legal framework, research and knowledge.
The participation of Makhzoumi foundation was important through teams from the healthcare program and the relief project. Sara Amhaz, Makhzoumi Foundation’s psychotherapist joined Group 13 entitled “Academics and social structures” as a group moderator. The objective of this group work was to invite child care taking Institutions, including the Informal sector and to highlight vulnerable children and families in a target to promote Home visitation, showcase referral to social support services and identify children at risk.
While Makhzoumi Foundation Child Protection team leader, Eliane Accaoui joined the conference as a Moderator for the Workshop 35 entitled “Safe guarding children in NGOs”. The Objectives of this group discussion was to identify emergent threats in child Refugees’ situation and Families at risk, to assess Children in difficult environments, to give visibility to children in armed conflicts and to explore avenues of stress behavior management.
Both Makhzoumi Foundation moderators chaired the workshop, controlled and limited time share and facilitated the interaction of audience during the 45 minutes’ discussions.
