The General Secretariat of the Lebanese Parliament, in collaboration with the Civil Society Network for Digital Transformation and the Westminster Foundation for Democracy organized a workshop entitled “Supporting Legislation to Develop National Curricula” on the 14th and 15th of October 2019, in the Library Hall of the Lebanese Parliament, in the presence of a group of deputies and representatives of ministries, institutions and educational bodies, and experts.
President of the Makhzoumi Foundation Mrs. May Makhzoumi, spoke during the workshop about the role of incubators, tournaments and competitions to motivate youth to innovate and entrepreneurship in the right ways, to overcome the obstacles they face when they decide to implement small projects of their own, in the absence of supporters to guide them on providing the necessary funds and administrative, marketing, legal and other matters to set up the project, that may be absent due to their lack of experience, as these incubators and motivational competitions make them committed to face the challenges and move their plans according to scientific and practical bases studied by specialists.
Makhzoumi also spoke about the work of Makhzoumi Foundation to nurture youth ideas and initiatives and provide thoughtful and integrated support to transform the ideas of youth into productive projects in the community, with the help of the Foundation’s team in cooperation with local and international partner organizations, to prevent them from making mistakes that lead to failure in the beginning of the establishment of their projects.
In this context, Mrs. Makhzoumi explained actual examples applied by the Makhzoumi Foundation to motivate, guide and support youth, such as the “Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship”, the “IT Hackathon”, “She’s entrepreneur”, “Our city our community in 2030”, “Let’s plant to save our school and environment”, “The Little Engineer”, as well as awareness in schools.
Mrs. Makhzoumi concluded by stressing that the Foundation has long-term experience in enhancing the role of national and global scientific incubators in stimulating innovation and entrepreneurship. The foundation also works to integrate matches in curricula and motivates youth to undertake projects at the school level. It also helps motivate youth to elect the “shadow municipality” in Beirut, train them to assess their community problems and find solutions through small projects.
