Back to 2016, Makhzoumi Foundation signed a collaborative agreement with the Nutrition and Dietetics Program at the Lebanese American University (LAU), whereby nutrition candidates from LAU will spend one month of internship at Makhzoumi Foundation Primary Healthcare Center practicing community nutrition in all its dimensions.
The internship program raised awareness on good nutrition and healthy eating habits, helped in the screening and management of non-communicable diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure, and screened children under five years old for malnutrition. Candidates also accompanied the healthcare workers on field trips to raise awareness about hygiene and nutrition and participated in vaccination campaigns against polio.
On November 23, the School of Nutrition and Dietetics held its annual White Coat Ceremony, at LAU Beirut Campus, to celebrate the 39 students who have successfully completed three years of their B.S. Degree. Present among university officials, including Dr. Joseph Jabra, the LAU president, Dr. Neshat Mansour, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and the guest of honor Dr. Fouad Makhzoumi and his wife Mrs. May, and faculty members and proud parents.
