The teenage period includes the utilization of high intellectual, physical, emotional and social capabilities to their maximum, which should be in an appropriate way, especially with guidance and motivation.
Working with youth for the past few years has allowed the team to have better insights on youths’ rising needs. Wherefore, Makhzoumi Foundation’s team gathered 35 youths for a life skills training at the Community Development Center, that makes them more capable to deal with expected problems (unemployment, poverty, lack of security, etc.) and with any other emerging issues (sexual abuse, drug abuse, anti-social acts, etc.).
The aim of that activity was to strengthen the youth’s abilities to deal with any issue in an effective manner and to help them cope up with future challenges. During this training, youths were introduced to different coping mechanisms and to other life strategies to discover themselves and their emotions through different patterns and principles like the pain/pleasure principles, self-reflection, physical & emotional self-care, communication strategies, principle of happiness, visions in a relationship (4P’s: present tense, personal perspective, positive language and passionate), the 6 human needs and social self-care.
