Makhzoumi Foundation participated in a workshop organized by the Arab Institute for Human Rights, in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), on sexual and reproductive rights at the Gefinor Rotana Hotel, attended by a number of NGOs and representatives of the British Embassy in Lebanon.
The workshop included discussions on equality of rights and obligations, and the need not to discriminate on the basis of sex and gender identity. The workshop also examined the cases of rape examinations and degrading practices on victims, as well as the relevant Lebanese laws (personal status laws). The workshop also discussed the proposed law criminalizing marital rape and sexual harassment, and discussed the development of the law to protect women and all members of the family from domestic violence, combating human trafficking crimes, and stopping racist practices in Lebanon.
