The members of the municipal council visited the honorary president of the Makhzoumi Foundation, Dr. Fouad Makhzoumi, in Beit El Bahr, to present their projects and future plans of the committees to enhance the society, which consists of the Environmental Committee, Media Committee, the Committee of Transport and Social Affairs. In the presence of the President of the Makhzoumi Foundation Mrs. May Makhzoumi, General Manager of the Foundation Mr. Samer El-Safah, President of Beirutiyat Huda Usta Kaskas and Director of the Vocational Training Program Mrs. Malak El Hout.
The members highlighted on enhancing and revitalizing the city’s image starting from the Barbir area in Beirut, where it is a meeting point for all Lebanese and foreigners. In addition, to many developments concerning the environment through the “Yalla Nefroz” initiative which would efficiently help to promote the recycling concept.
In his word, Dr. Fouad Makhzoumi emphasized the importance of “the youth claiming their rights and raising their voices especially those issues tackling public interests. Seeking communal help is never a shame. Never hesitate to present your ideas clearly and professionally that will transfer your effort into action plans for a better society in the future.”
زار أعضاء المجلس البلدي الظل الرئيس الفخري لمؤسسة مخزومي المهندس الدكتور فؤاد مخزومي في بيت البحر، ليعرضوا معه مشاريع ومخططات اللجان المستقبلية للمجتمع المؤلفة من لجنة بيئة، لجنة اعلام، لجنة السير والنقل، الشؤون الاجتماعية.. وذلك بحضور كل من رئيسة مؤسسة مخزومي السيدة مي مخزومي، المدير العام للمؤسسة السيد سامر الصفح، رئيسة جمعية بيروتيات هدى الأسطة قصقص ومديرة برنامج التدريب السيدة ملك الحوت.
وخلال اللقاء تم مناقشة واحدة من المشاريع من ضمنها تحسين ساحة البربير لأنها واجهة العاصمة بحيث تعد نقطة تلاقي لجميع شرائح المجتمع بالإضافة الى اقتراح فكرة تحسينها من الناحية بيئية من خلال مبادرة ”يلا نفرز“ بمساعدة بلدية بيروت.
وفي كلمة للدكتور مخزومي قال فيها: ”لا تترددوا بالمطالبة بحقوقكم خصوصا تلك التي لها منفعة عامة وطلب المساعدة. حاولوا أن توصلوا أفكاركم بالكامل وبأسلوب ذكي لكي لا يذهب تعبكم سدا، لا تنسوا أنها تتطلبت الكثير من الوقت والمجهود والبحث لهدف سامي وهو تطوير المجتمع“.
