When breastfeeding women visit the primary healthcare center for a medical service and when healthcare working moms return to work, they may have been exclusively breastfeeding for the past 70 days of maternity leave. However, the time period for breastfeeding is set to be at least 6 months and most of those mothers have a goal to breastfeed for the first six months of their baby’s life. Makhzoumi Foundation, UNICEF and the Ministry of Public Health in support of the need for a lactation room, facilitated this goal for the mothers and made it less challenging to hit. Creating a breastfeeding room on the first floor of the primary healthcare center in Makhzoumi Foundation in Beirut is a better chance for both visiting and working new moms to succeed at breastfeeding and improve their health and the health of their newborn.
Moms now have easy access to a private, safe and clean place to express breast milk. The lactation room is not a bathroom. It is a warm location to pump the breast milk that a baby will consume. It contains a comfortable sofa and a refrigerator with all the items and the high-quality breast pumps that the mother needs to pump milk in a friendly-space. It has also a flat surface for the breast pump to rest with easy access to electrical outlets. The most important thing about this is the educational support of moms. At the primary health care center, breastfeeding and nutrition specialist are available anytime for help.

عندما تقوم الأم المرضاة بزيارة مركز الرعاية الصحية الأولية أوعندما تعود الأمهات العاملات في المركز الصحي إلى العمل، يكنّ قد أتممن فترة سبعين يوماً من الرضاعة من إجازة الأمومة. ولكن بما أنه من المقرر أن تكون الفترة الزمنية للرضاعة الطبيعية الحصرية ستة أشهر على الأقل، ومعظم هؤلاء الأمهات لديهن هدف للرضاعة الطبيعية وهو الأشهر الستة الأولى من عمر طفلهن. وقد سهّلت مؤسسة مخزومي واليونيسف ووزارة الصحة العامة الدعم في وضع غرفة للرضاعة حتى تتمكن الأمهات من تحقيق هدفهن وجعله أقل تحدياً. إن توفير غرفة للرضاعة الطبيعية في الطابق الأول من مركز الرعاية الصحية الأولية في مؤسسة مخزومي في بيروت هو فرصة أفضل للأمهات اللواتي يزرن المركز وللأمهات العاملات على النجاح في الرضاعة الطبيعية وتحسين صحتهن وصحة أولادهن.
أصبح الآن من السهل الأمهات المرضعات الوصول إلى مكان خاص وآمن ونظيف للرضاعة. غرفة الرضاعة ليست دورة مياه. إنها مكان دافئ للرضاعة الطبيعية أو لضخ حليب الثدي الذي يستهلكه الطفل. تجد الأم بداخلها كنبة مريحة وثلاجة مع جميع العناصر ومضخات الثدي عالية الجودة التي تحتاجها للرضاعة أو لضخ الحليب في مكان ودود. بالإضافة إلى سهولة الوصول إلى المنافذ الكهربائية. أهم ما في هذا هو الدعم للأمهات. في مركز الرعاية الصحية الأولية ، تتوفر أخصائيات الرضاعة الطبيعية والتغذية في أي وقت للمساعدة.
