Makhzoumi Foundation has always adopted the approach of working towards the implementation of sustainable development goals in accordance with UN 2030 agenda. Accordingly, the Foundation attended the Expert Group Meeting on “Not Neglecting Anyone: Access to the Marginalized Groups in Selected Countries in the Arab Region”, organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), in cooperation with the Beirut Office of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the Lebanese American University LAU, and the Center for Lebanese Studies, on 13 and 14 May, in Beirut.
The meeting discussed the root causes of exclusion and manifestations of marginalization in the Arab region, in addition to the multi-dimensional equality frameworks of ESCWA according to the main research results. The meeting also discussed the dimensions of exclusion in the Arab region from a gender perspective, with the case of five countries in the Arab region. Various sessions were also devoted to studying the conditions of the cemetery population and the inherent exclusion, and geography as a root cause of exclusion.
