Maintaining personal hygiene is necessary for many reasons; personal, social, health, psychological or simply as a way of life. Keeping a good standard of hygiene helps to prevent the development and spread of infections, illnesses and bad odors. What if we teach that to our children? Make it their own lifestyle? That would be amazing!
The Child Protection Department at Makhzoumi Foundation Had a special event, to help children learn about the importance of daily hygiene, at our center in Jnah, Beirut. It was a PUPPET PLAY!
The event was attended by 13 caregivers (Lebanese, Syrian, and Iraqi) and 37 children. Starting with the caregivers, they attended an awareness session about daily hygiene, addressing the importance of cleanliness, the negative effect of lack of hygiene on human beings, diseases that spread in unclean places, and the prevention of such diseases.
Meanwhile, the children were welcomed and had the chance to introduce themselves, and then joined their parents to watch the puppet show.
The puppet play was presented by Makhzoumi Foundation’s caseworkers, illustrating 2 school-mates, discussing the different steps of daily hygiene.
Then, a movie regarding bacteria and its hidden places on the body and the surroundings things was played, and followed by a discussion through which children got to express themselves regarding the bacteria subject.
Children enjoyed playing, singing and dancing, and more importantly LEARNING, with Makhzoumi Foundation’s child protection team, who also distributed hygiene kits and school stationery to all children.
