The Municipality of Irkay in South Lebanon, Makhzoumi Foundation and Armadilla organized in July an informative session for stakeholders and beekeepers on “Sustainable Beekeeping”.
The session gathered 25 participants and was led by Mr. Fadi Abi Sleiman who explained the different varieties of honey. He addressed the safety aspect of beekeeping and the main diseases and problems that are affecting the bee populations. Mr Abi Sleiman also emphasised the importance of using natural treatment instead of chemical pesticides in case of diseases.
This activity raises awareness on the issues related to sustainable beekeeping and the importance of bees as pollinators. It encourages the participants to engage in beekeeping and preserve this tradition in their region.
This informative session was held under a project funded by the European Union to support the Municipality of Irkay in its effort to foster sustainable development. The project promotes the role of the local authorities in encouraging actions able to enhance responsible behaviors towards the environment.
