Découpage comes from the French and means “cutting out”. It is the art of cutting and pasting cutouts to simulate painting on a wood, metal or glass surface. The basic steps include in general cutting out the pictures, arranging them to depict a scene or tell a story, pasting them on a surface and applying several thin coats of varnish or lacquer to the pictures.
Through this art that emerged among the Chinese culture then evolved through Europe and the United States, Makhzoumi Foundation continues to raise awareness of the importance of environmental conservation and waste reduction. The teams are conducting craft workshops that help to achieve this purpose. To that regard, one of the workshops on Découpage took place in the Foundation’s atelier and attracted a large number of interested people who had training on the art of decoupage on wood, glass, and ceramic.
