One of the strategic objectives of Makhzoumi Foundation is Partnership for sustainable development. Partnership increases the possibilities to spread awareness messages into the community in many sectors, wether in health, education, economic empowerment and humanitarian issues. This time, a social, non-political, non-profit association of volunteering students specializing in pharmacy and medicine joined the loop of educational awareness. The Lebanese Pharmacy Students’ Association (LPSA)’s goal is to promote pharmacy education and improve public health through the provision of information, education, and networking to the Lebanese society in general, especially in underprivileged areas.
On the occasion of the World Antibiotic Awareness Week, 13-19 November 2017, LPSA and Makhzoumi Foundation organized a gathering with community members to discuss the rise of antibiotic resistance that is leading to untreatable infections. This can affect anyone at any age. The main message was that without urgent action from the community itself, we are heading for a future in which infections and minor injuries could once again kill. The discussion included case presentations and stories of participants who have problems cuased by antibiotic resistance.
