One of the strategic objectives of Makhzoumi Foundation is Partnership for sustainable development. Partnership increases the possibilities to spread awareness messages into the community in many sectors, wether in health, education, economic empowerment and humanitarian issues. This time, a social, non-political, non-profit association of volunteering students specializing in pharmacy and medicine joined the loop of educational awareness. The Lebanese Pharmacy Students’ Association (LPSA)’s goal is to promote pharmacy education and improve public health through the provision of information, education, and networking to the Lebanese society in general, especially in underprivileged areas.
On the occasion of the World Antibiotic Awareness Week, 13-19 November 2017, LPSA and Makhzoumi Foundation organized a gathering with community members to discuss the rise of antibiotic resistance that is leading to untreatable infections. This can affect anyone at any age. The main message was that without urgent action from the community itself, we are heading for a future in which infections and minor injuries could once again kill. The discussion included case presentations and stories of participants who have problems cuased by antibiotic resistance.
أحد الأهداف الاستراتيجية لمؤسسة مخزومي هو الشراكة من أجل التنمية المستدامة. فتزيد الشراكة من إمكانيات نشر رسائل التوعية في المجتمع في العديد من القطاعات، في مجالات الصحة والتعليم والتمكين الاقتصادي والمسائل الإنسانية وغيرها. هذه المرة، انضمت جمعية اجتماعية هي غير سياسية، غير ربحية مؤلفة من طلاب متخصصين في الصيدلة والطب للتطوع في تقديم حلقة توعية لمجموعة من أفراد المجتمع المحلي. تهدف جمعية طلبة الصيدلة اللبنانيين إلى تعزيز التربية الصيدلية وتحسين الصحة العامة من خلال توفير المعلومات والتعليم والتواصل مع المجتمع اللبناني بشكل عام وخاصة في المناطق الأمس حاجة.
وبمناسبة الأسبوع العالمي للتوعية بالمضادات الحيوية، 13-19 تشرين الثاني / نوفمبر 2017، نظمت مؤسسة مخزومي وجمعية طلاب الصيدلة اللبنانية اجتماعاً مع أفراد من المجتمع المحلي لمناقشة ازدياد مقاومة المضادات الحيوية التي تؤدي إلى عدوى غير قابلة للعلاج. هذا يمكن أن يصيب أي شخص في أي سن. وكانت الرسالة الرئيسية هي أنه دون اتخاذ إجراءات عاجلة من جانب المجتمع نفسه، فإننا نتجه نحو مستقبل يمكن أن تقتل فيه الإلتهابات والإصابات البسيطة من جديد. وشملت المناقشة عرض عن حالات وقصص للمشاركين الذين يعانون من مشاكل مستعصية بسب مقاومة المضادات الحيوية.
