UNHCR and DRC visit Makhzoumi Foundation in Tripoli

Education, shelter, and main needs are all basic rights to everyone! And it can be achieved with social cohesion.

Under that title, Makhzoumi Foundation center in Tripoli, hosted a meeting for a group of interacting individuals having some common interest and characteristics, with moderators from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees UNHCR, and officers the Danish Refugee Council DRC.

An important and constructive focused discussion was conducted during this meeting, where UNHCR moderators and DRC officers listened to the group’s interaction on issues like education and shelter and main needs, and the main role that social cohesion plays.

The rights to education and shelter and main needs are recognized in some national constitutions and in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The right to education is legally guaranteed for all without any discrimination. states have the obligation to protect, respect, and fulfill the right to education. there are ways to hold states accountable for violations or deprivations of the right to education.

Also, everyone has a fundamental human right to shelter, which ensures access to a safe, secure, habitable, and affordable home with freedom from forced eviction. It is the government’s obligation to guarantee that everyone can exercise this right to live in security, peace, and dignity.

Main needs, or Basic needs, food (including water), shelter and clothing. Many modern lists emphasize the minimum level of consumption of ‘basic needs’ of not just food, water, clothing, and shelter, but also sanitation, education, and healthcare.
