Within the framework of the Project “Water Sanitation and Conservation” funded by the United States Agency for International Development, Makhzoumi Foundation organized a meeting in Qab Elias under the title “Danger of Underground Water Pollution – Causes and Solutions for Qab Elias Town”, aiming to shed light on water-related problems in the region, especially protecting groundwater from pollution. The meeting took place at the municipality building in the presence of a number of activists and residents of the area.
The mayor talked about water pollution and the problems they face. Then Ms. Dareen Hannoush spoke about the project funded by USAID – US Agency for International Development, followed by Eng. Joyce Assaf and Ms. Judy Zeineddin about the role of CEEDD Jesuit University, then Eng. Salama Nomani from Makhzoumi Foundation gave a presentation on “Danger of Contamination of Underground Stores”. Mr. Azar from the Bekaa Water Establishment pointed out to the lack of funding and government support. After that, a general discussion took place on the subject, and at the end there was a wish for the associations to cooperate to provide possible solutions to the problems of water pollution in the region.
