Based on the constant interest of Makhzoumi Foundation and its tireless efforts to empower women and achieve the sustainable development goals, The Foundation participated in the sixty-third session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, held from 11 to 22 March 2019 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City, to discuss social protection systems, access to public services and sustainable infrastructure for gender equality and empowerment of women and girls.
Makhzoumi Foundation President and for the leader of the fifth goal of sustainable development goals (gender equality), and member of the National Commission for Lebanese Women Mrs. May Makhzoumi, participated in this session, along with Makhzoumi Foundation general manager Samer Al-Safah, as well as a large number of NGOs concerned with the empowerment of women, From around the world.
The session examined the progress made in implementing the responses agreed at previous sessions on women’s empowerment and their relevance to sustainable development. The 10-day session also included ministerial round tables, high-level interactive dialogues, general discussion, interactive discussions and discussions with group of experts.
The session also addressed gaps and challenges in the implementation of commitments on the empowerment of women and reached practical recommendations for all States, intergovernmental bodies, relevant mechanisms and entities of the United Nations and other concerned entities.
The event was organized by the UN Women, a United Nations organization dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women.
انطلاقًا من اهتمام مؤسسة مخزومي الدائم وسعيها الدؤوب لتمكين المرأة وتحقيق أهداف التنمية المُستدامة،شاركت المؤسسة في الدورة الثالثة والستون للجنة وضع المرأة التابعة للأمم المتحدة، والتي انعقدت في الفترة الممتدة من 11 حتى 22 مارس 2019 في مقر الأمم المتحدة الرئيسي في مدينة نيويورك الأميركية، لبحث أنظمة الحماية الإجتماعية والوصول إلى الخدمات العامّة والبنية التحتية المستدامة للمساواة بين الجنسين وتمكين المرأة والفتيات.
حيث شاركت في هذه الدورة رئيسة مؤسسة مخزومي والممثلة الوطنية للهدف الخامس من أهداف التنمية المستدامة (المساواة بين الجنسين) وعضو الهيئة الوطنية لشؤون المرأة السيدة مي مخزومي، ومدير عام مؤسسة مخزومي السيد سامر الصفح، إلى جانب عدد كبير من المنظمات غير الحكومية المعنية بتمكين المرأة، من مختلف أنحاء العالم.
وبحثت الدورة التقدّم المُنجز في تنفيذ الاستجابات المُتفق عليها في الدورات السابقة عن تمكين المرأة وصلتها في التنمية المستدامة. كما تضمّنت هذه الدورة، التي استمرت لمدة 10 أيام، اجتماعات المائدة المستديرة الوزارية وحوارات تفاعلية رفيعة المستوىـ ومناقشة عامة ومناقشات تفاعلية ومناقشات مع فريق الخبراء.
كما تطرقت هذه الدورة إلى الثغرات والتحديات في تنفيذ الالتزامات عن تمكين المرأة، وتوصّلت لتوصيات عملية لجميع الدول والهيئات الحكومية الدولية، والآليات والكيانات ذات الصلة التابعة لمنظمة الأمم المتحدة والجهات المعنية الأخرى
نظّمت هذا الحدث هيئة الأمم المتّحدة للمرأة، وهي منظّمة تابعة للأمم المتحدة مخصصة للمساواة بين الجنسين وتمكين المرأة.
