“Clean the Beach” is an environmental awareness project launched by Makhzoumi Foundation and UNHCR within the relief and humanitarian program for people with special needs. Makhzoumi Foundation relief and humanitarian services unit has been working on this targeted population for more than 5 years, providing assistance that is very critical to sustaining the refugee population and easing the strain on the host community. One of the targeted awareness activities includes environmental education. The “Clean the beach” participants gathered from different areas in Beirut, assited by employees and volunteers. The aim of the project was to integrate the vulnerable communities of different nationalities to help the local community and take care of the environment and preserve the cleanliness of the Lebanese coast. The participants expressed their joy to engage in solidarity work with the local community.
“تنظيف الشاطئ” هو مشروع التوعية البيئية التي أطلقتها مؤسسة مخزومي ومفوضية الأمم المتحدة لشؤون اللاجئين ضمن برنامج الإغاثة والخدمات الإنسانية لذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة.وتعمل وحدة الإغاثة والخدمات الإنسانية التابعة لمؤسسة مخزومي على استهداف المجتمعات الأمس حاجة منذ أكثر من 5 سنوات، وتقدم المساعدة التي تعتبر بالغة الأهمية لإستدامة المجتمعات النازحة وتخفيف الضغط على المجتمع المضيف. وتكمن التوعية البيئية ضمن أنشطة التوعية المستهدفة. وقد تجمع المشاركون في مشروع “تنظيف الشاطئ” من مناطق مختلفة في بيروت يساعدهم الموظفون والمتطوعون. والهدف من المشروع هو دمج المجتمعات المستضعفة من الجنسيات المختلفة لرعاية البيئة والحفاظ على نظافة الساحل اللبناني. وأعرب المشاركون عن فرحتهم للمشاركة في العمل التضامني مع المجتمع المحلي.
