Makhzoumi Foundation at the UN Headquarters for Gender Equality

Based on the constant interest of Makhzoumi Foundation and its tireless efforts to empower women and achieve the sustainable development goals, The Foundation participated in the sixty-third session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, held from 11 to 22 March 2019 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City, to discuss social protection systems, access to public services and sustainable infrastructure for gender equality and empowerment of women and girls.

Makhzoumi Foundation President and for the leader of the fifth goal of sustainable development goals (gender equality), and member of the National Commission for Lebanese Women Mrs. May Makhzoumi, participated in this session, along with Makhzoumi Foundation general manager Samer Al-Safah, as well as a large number of NGOs concerned with the empowerment of women, From around the world.

The session examined the progress made in implementing the responses agreed at previous sessions on women’s empowerment and their relevance to sustainable development. The 10-day session also included ministerial round tables, high-level interactive dialogues, general discussion, interactive discussions and discussions with group of experts.

The session also addressed gaps and challenges in the implementation of commitments on the empowerment of women and reached practical recommendations for all States, intergovernmental bodies, relevant mechanisms and entities of the United Nations and other concerned entities.

The event was organized by the UN Women, a United Nations organization dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women.
