The National Commission for Lebanese Women NCLW organized a training course in cooperation with the Center for Arab Women for Training and Research (CAWTAR) on “Advocacy Skills for Gender and Trade Change” at the Padova Hotel in Beirut.
Makhzoumi Foundation participated, along with a number of representatives of ministries, political parties, associations and media, in the two-day workshop on “Empowering Women to Achieve Equality in the MENA Region through Gender Mainstreaming in Economic Policies and Trade Agreements”, with the support of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).
Mrs. Sawsan Chebaro from Makhzoumi Foundation’s micro credit program, participated as a lecturer and trainer, after having received a training at a course previously held in Tunisia.
The aim of this course was to provide participants with the necessary tools and knowledge in evidence-based advocacy for change to enhance women’s economic participation and their access to commercial markets nationally, regionally and internationally.
The training course also discussed how to build networks and build alliances towards desired change. A national action plan and an evidence-based and results-based advocacy structure have been developed.
At the end of the session, the President of the National Commission for Lebanese Women, Mrs. Claudine Aoun Roukoz distributed the training certificates to participants.
