The Microsoft Office Specialist National Championship was concluded, after the participation of 75 private and official educational institutions. It was held in partnership between Makhzoumi Foundation and Information Technology Leading Services ITLS, and sponsored by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
The winners, who will represent Lebanon at the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship that will be held at the end of August this year in New York City, were announced. The ceremony was held at the ESA School of Business, during which ITLS Executive Director Tarek Basha discussed the objectives of this competition and the company’s work in the field of successful and effective digital transformation for students, professors, school departments and thus society.
Mr. Mazen Abu Alia, representative of CERTIPORT, explained the importance of adopting and using technology to develop communities, and the importance of Microsoft programs for the practical future of Lebanese youth.
The President of Makhzoumi Foundation and member of the national commission for Lebanese Women, Mrs. May Makhzoumi congratulated the students on what they achieved, and wished them the best in their future. Makhzoumi also spoke about the vision she has taken since the opening of Makhzoumi Foundation in 1997: the need to introduce technology into the curriculum, to keep pace with global development “.
“Digital technology and robotics technology are the future of the global labor market, and that’s why such competitions are very important” Mrs. May Makhzoumi said.
In his turn, Makhzoumi Foundation’s Honorary President MP Fouad Makhzoumi spoke about “the evolution of labor market requirements and the importance of keeping pace with it, to provide a better future for the Lebanese youth and to combat unemployment and the emigration of energies.” He stressed the need to balance between the new technologies and the human minds developed to prepare for the future”, anticipating the disappearance of many traditional professions and their replacement will be professions based on technological development.
After that, the successful students who qualified for the Microsoft Office Specialist National Championship were honored (120 students), in addition to the crowning of the first rank winners in Lebanon:
- For the PowerPoint category, Reina Al Masri from the “College Sacré-Cœur Tripoli” (first place), Mohammed Kawas from Makassed Secondary School – Omar Bin Al Khattab (second place).
- For the Word category, Salim Hashisho from Rafic Hariri Secondary School Saida (first place), and Hanadi Hawilo from the Lebanese University (second place).
- For the Excel category, Yousef Bashashi from Makassed Secondary School – Ali Bin Abi Talib (first place), and Mahmoud Yamani from Rafik Hariri Secondary School in Saida (second place).
In support of the official schools, a first prize was awarded at the level of official schools to represent Lebanon in the Microsoft World Championship, which was won by Yasmina Fadel from Haret Hreik High School.
Recall that more than 3000 students aged from 13 to 22 years have participated in the championship, where each school culminated their winners for each category, who competed in their turn at Microsoft Lebanon’s headquarters for the final exam.
اختتمت فعاليات بطولة لبنان لمهارات المايكروسوفت، والتي شارك فيها 75 صرحا تربويا خاصا ورسميا على صعيد لبنان، بالشراكة بين مؤسسة مخزومي وشركة ITLS،Information Technology Leading Services، وبرعاية وزارة التربية والتعليم العالي.
وتم إعلان أسماء الفائزين الذين سيمثلون لبنان في بطولة العالم لمهارات المايكروسوفت نهاية شهر آب من العام الحالي في مدينة نيويورك الأميركية. وذلك في احتفالية أقيمت في المعهد العالي للأعمال ESA، تحدث خلالها المدير التنفيذي لشركة ITLS طارق باشا عن أهداف هذه المسابقة وعمل الشركة في مجال التحول الرقمي الناجح والفعال، على مستوى الطلاب والأساتذة وإدارات المدارس وبالتالي المجتمع.
وشرح ممثل شركة CERTIPORT الأستاذ مازن أبو عليا “أهمية تبني التكنولوجيا واستخدامها لتطوير المجتمعات، وأهمية برامج مايكروسوفت للمستقبل العملي للشباب اللبناني”.
وهنأت رئيسة مؤسسة مخزومي عضو الهيئة الوطنية لشؤون المرأة اللبنانية مي مخزومي “الطلاب على ما حققوه”، وتمنت “لهم الأفضل في مستقبلهم”، متحدثة عن “الرؤية التي حملتها منذ افتتاح مؤسسة مخزومي عام 1997، وهي ضرورة إدخال التكنولوجيا ضمن المنهج التعليمي، لمواكبة التطور العالمي”.
وأكدت مخزومي “أن التكنولوجيا الرقمية وتكنولوجيا الروبوتات هي مستقبل سوق العمل العالمي، ومن هنا تأتي أهمية هكذا مسابقات”.
بدوره تحدث الرئيس الفخري لمؤسسة مخزومي النائب فؤاد مخزومي عن “تطور متطلبات سوق العمل، وأهمية مواكبته لتوفير مستقبل أفضل للشباب اللبناني، ولمكافحة البطالة وهجرة الطاقات”.
وشدد على “ضرورة الموازنة بين التقنيات الجديدة والعقل الإنساني المنفتح والمتطور حتى نتحضر للمستقبل، متوقعا زوال العديد من المهن التقليدية واستبدالها بمهن جديدة أساسها التطور التكنولوجي”.
إثر ذلك، تم تكريم الطلاب الناجحين الذين تأهلوا لنهائيات مسابقة مايكروسوفت عن كافة الفئات والبالغ عددهم 120 طالبا وطالبة، إضافة لتتويج الأوائل على لبنان وهم:
- عن فئة PowerPoint، رينا المصري من مدرسة القلبين الأقدسين طرابلس (المرتبة الأولى) ومحمد قواص من ثانوية المقاصد – عمر بن الخطاب (المرتبة الثانية).
- عن فئة Word سليم حشيشو من ثانوية رفيق الحريري صيدا (المرتبة الأولى)، وهنادي هويلو من الجامعة اللبنانية (المرتبة الثانية).
- عن فئة Excel، يوسف بشاشي من ثانوية المقاصد – علي بن أبي طالب (المرتبة الأولى)، ومحمود يماني من ثانوية رفيق الحريري صيدا (المرتبة الثانية).
ودعما للمدارس الرسمية، تم تخصيص جائزة للأول على صعيد المدارس الرسمية لتمثيل لبنان في البطولة العالمية لمايكروسوفت، وقد فازت بها ياسمينا فاضل من ثانوية حارة حريك الرسمية.
يذكر أنه شارك في البطولة ما يزيد عن 3000 طالب من الفئات العمرية الممتدة بين 13 و22 سنة، توجت خلالها كل مدرسة أبطالها عن فئات الـ Word، الـ Excel، والـ Power Point، وتنافس الفائزون في مقر مايكروسوفت لبنان على الامتحان النهائي.
