Knowledge is indeed a power. When we start to face our fears through knowledge, our worries and anticipations will certainly disappear. This is also applied to when women are diagnosed with cancer but do not really know because of late diagnosis. This is why awareness plays a significant role to reduce the stigma of breast cancer through education symptoms and treatment which is indeed associated with higher long-term survival rates reaching a permanent cure.
Makhzoumi Foundation in line with the National Breast Cancer Campaign launched in October 2017 by the Ministry of Public Health is doing mammography at a reduced cost to encourage women for early screening.
Billboards everywhere in Beirut are set to remind every woman to take care. Outreach awareness sessions are also done until the end of the campaign in January 2018.
المعرفة هي في الواقع قوة. عندما نبدأ بمواجهة مخاوفنا من خلال تسلحنا بالمعرفة، نرى أن معظمها يتلاشى والمبادرة الى حلها تضحي أسرع. هذا الأمر ينطبق أيضا على المرضى الذين يتفاجأون بأنفسهم عندما يجتاحهم المرض بشكل فجائي ويضحون في مراحل متأخرة. من هذه النقطة، يلعب الوعي دورا مهما في الحد من انتشار هذا المرض فقد ارتبطت المعرفة المبكرة بشكل وثيق برفع معدلات الحياة وصولا الى العلاج الكامل.
وتقوم مؤسسة مخزومي تزامنا مع الحملة الوطنية لسرطان الثدي التي أطلقت في تشرين الأول من قبل وزارة الصحة العامة، بإجراء التصوير الشعاعي للثدي بتكلفة مخفضة لتشجيع النساء على الفحص المبكر.
كما تم توزيع اللوحات الإعلانية على الطرقات في بيروت لتذكير كل امرأة بأهمية الرعاية الصحية. كما يتم عقد جلسات توعوية حتى نهاية الحملة في كانون الثاني 2018.
